ACTIVITIES

The activities of the Aernus Institute, in the fields of Defence, Security and Civil Protection, are mainly aimed at developing countries, namely those belonging to the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), but are not limited to them.


The activity of the Aernus Institute is developed through its own projects, but whenever justified, or whenever requested or contacted to do so, the Institute develops and participates in partnerships, cooperations, protocols and projects, with governmental or civil society entities, national and foreign.


Promote the study, research, debate and dissemination of issues relating to Security and Defense and implications for Portugal and the countries where the Aernus Institute carries out its activities. Promote, encourage and sponsor the production and publication of literary works, relating to the themes of Security and Defense, Foreign Policy and Cooperation.

 

Promote actions to raise awareness and inform public opinion and society on Security and Defense and International Cooperation issues. Organize seminars, round tables, meetings, debates and conferences on issues relating to Security and Defense. Serve as a forum and meeting point between entities and personalities outside the Aernus Institute, who are dedicated to the study of these topics, namely university institutions.

Carry out audits and provide consultancy, training and management services and implementation of support programs to entities and institutions, national, foreign or international, that request this type of services.

Promote and study issues relating to the development of the national technological and industrial base of the Security and Defense sector. Emphasize the participation and inclusion of Portuguese companies in the arms and defense equipment sector, in their own projects or those of third parties.

Promote and encourage the connection of European Security and Defense policies and strategies with countries in other regions, with national industries, institutes and technological centers, including support for the activities of business associations in the Security and Defense sector.

Promote or integrate partnerships, cooperation, protocols with other state, national, foreign and international institutions or entities, in research projects on matters in their area of interest, financed by the European Union or other institutions, as well as fostering and participating in networks of interest related to its statutory purposes. Maintain contacts and exchange information, experiences and ideas with other similar national, foreign and international entities. Request studies and work to be carried out by entities external to the Aernus Institute, in accordance with the Annual Activity Plan and financial availability.
